Crime and Punishment and Judicial Nominees
Apologies to Doestovesky and for the self-reference, but the issue of Judges, that Curt's posts show is heating up as the election approaches, has another angle for Republicans, that of violent crime. Given the nature of the views of Republican and Democrat judges, between now and November there will likely be a series of outrageously light wrist slaps by the judiciary against killers, drug dealers, rapists and, if Vermont gets its way, even child molesters. In each State where this occurs Republican Senators should be on the look out for who appointed that judge and what party affiliation he has. A statement that "My opponent opposes Judges like X, who would put away violent criminals as the law allows. Perhaps he's more comfortable with Judge Y, who thinks serial rapists should get eight months and counseling but I think it’s bad for this state." would go far to preserving the Republican majority in the Senate.
