Bush's Legacy Regarding Judges
Kimberly Strassel, Wall Street Journal columnist and member of the editorial board, asserts that "even the most critical conservative activists are concluding that President Bush has had an impressive judicial run" capped by "two stellar Supreme Court successes." She concludes that Bush's legacy will be the increased sensitivity of voters regarding the candidates' position on judicial nominations.
Her editorial assesses Bush's record on judicial confirmations. She also discusses the current nomination agenda, stating, "The question is whether they [the Democrats] now use their power to submarine the most qualified nominees, and those destined for the most crucial circuits. In short, it's not the numbers that count so much as who they afford a hearing, and who they run out the clock on."
