After graduating first in his law school class, Mr. Maher joined WilliamsMcCarthy LLP as an attorney in the Firm's Litigation Practice Group. Since then, Mr. Maher has consulted with and represented clients in matters involving many areas of civil trial and appellate practice and dispute resolution. For example, Mr. Maher has been involved in trial and appellate litigation involving personal injury and wrongful death claims (on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants), employment discrimination claims (on behalf of management), insurance coverage issues (on behalf of both insurers and policyholders), business and contract disputes, construction claims, consumer fraud cases, trade secrets and unfair competition, defamation (libel/slander) claims, employee non-competition agreements and copyright and trademark (Lanham Act) issues.
In addition to his trial and appellate work, Mr. Maher also provides research and advice to his business clients with respect to general employment law, immigration law, contract law and dispute resolution issues that affect their day-to-day operations.
Mr. Maher is an active participant in local community affairs, having served as a Director on the Boards of several not-for-profit organizations over the years. Mr. Maher is a former Director on the Board of The Hunger Connection, a Northern Illinois food bank, and currently serves as a Director on the Board of the Easter Seals Children's Development Center. In addition, he has served as the Treasurer of the Winnebago County Bar Association and is an active participant on several WCBA committees.
Mr. Maher is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts in Illinois and is a member of the Winnebago County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
