Robert Madayag brings a practical approach to the law that comes with his experience serving on nuclear submarines. As an associate in Woodcock's Atlanta office, Rob focuses his practice on patent prosecution and portfolio development and licensing. His practice reaches a variety of technical areas including computer software, telecommunications, chemical /electrical / mechanical engineering, and business methods.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Rob gained significant experience in both the military and public sectors. Rob spent six years in the U.S. Navy where his responsibilities included the operation and maintenance of the nuclear power plants for the USS Silversides (SSN-679), a fast attack submarine, and the USS Kentucky (SSBN-737, blue), a trident missile submarine. During this period, Rob developed an expertise in electronic control systems. Following his military service, Rob gained additional experience working in the thin films area (CVD) for Intel and also worked at IBM, performing research and development in processor interfaces under the direct supervision of an IBM Fellow. During law school, he was a patent clerk at Unisys.
With his chemical engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his varied background in electronics, semiconductors, and computer software, Rob is able to counsel clients across a broad range of technologies and is well-suited to provide counsel in the areas where those technologies are converging, including nanotechnology, medical devices and semiconductors
