She also earned the CALI Award for Appellate Advocacy and received the prestigious William J. Kilbridge Award for Excellence in Federal Taxation and Clinical Studies.

Linda passed the Bar Exam in Illinois, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey in the span of less than a year. She was admitted to practice law in all four jurisdictions as well as the United States Tax Court. She then served as the Law Clerk to the Honorable William C. After her clerkship, Linda Kerns practiced Tax Law and Family Law for a Law Firm in the Chicago, Illinois area.

In the early 2000ís, Kerns returned to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and practiced family law and civil litigation for a law firm in the city, where she handled all types of cases, including marital estates worth tens of millions of dollars. She was able to use her extensive tax background to assist in the financial intricacies of the income and asset distribution issues of divorce cases. While working in Philadelphia, Linda obtained a Masters of Law in Taxation (L.L.M.) and Graduate Certificate in Estate Planning from Temple Universityís Beasley School of Law. In addition to working in family law, litigation and business law, at this time Linda Kerns began to represent clients in election law matters, representing clients in the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia, as well as Commonwealth Court in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

In 2003, Linda opened her own practice, the Law Offices of Linda A. Kerns, at 1500 Market Street, across from City Hall. From the moment it opened the practice rapidly grew. Lindaís clients included business owners, artists, entertainers, doctors, lawyers, financial experts, teachers, nurses, designers, accountants and people from all walks of life. As she established her practice, Linda participated in the Nicholas A. Cipriani Family Law Inn of Court, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association, the Philadelphia Bar Association and the Montgomery County Bar Association. She also volunteered for the VIP/PLA Tax Clinic and has drafted articles and lectured on various aspects of law.

In 2008, Linda found an ideal location to relocate her office and purchased and renovated office space in the Academy House Professional Offices Building on Locust Street between 15th Street and Broad Street in Philadelphia. Kerns worked closely with an architect to renovate the office specifically for the needs of the law firm. Her practice continues to grow. She concentrates in family law, litigation, tax and election law matters.
