Mr. Nardone is a member of McDonald Hopkinsí Business and Tax Practice Group where he is involved in a wide variety of business and tax related matters for the firmís clients. Vince represents individuals and businesses in federal, state, and local civil and criminal tax controversy matters. This representation extends from the initial audit and examination conducted by the taxing authorities to the administrative appeals process, court review, and collection matters. He has experience handling matters with the Internal Revenue Service, Ohio Department of Taxation, and many municipalities including the City of Columbus and City of Cleveland.
Vince is actively involved in providing advice concerning general business issues and the tax ramifications of all aspects of individual and business related transactions and settlements of legal disputes, including business succession planning, choice of entity and structuring alternatives, and other complex tax issues.
Vince has extensive experience in a variety of tax-exempt and non-profit matters. This includes advising clients regarding formation and operational issues that arise in operating as a tax-exempt entity to assisting the firmís bond practice on the tax aspects of tax-exempt financing. He has organized and obtained determination letters for tax-exempt organizations and has counseled tax-exempt organizations, including non-profit hospitals, on compliance issues involving mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, executive compensation, and state charitable trust law.
As a former FBI Agent, Vince works with business clients in conducting internal investigations regarding a wide variety of matters, including internal fraud investigations and parallel government investigations.
He also represents individuals and businesses in federal and state criminal and civil tax investigations and controversies, and defends individuals and businesses in white collar crime investigations and prosecutions.
His experience as an FBI agent uniquely qualifies him to represent clients in these matters.
While employed by the FBI, Mr. Nardone investigated criminal violations in the white collar crime, violent crime and drug related areas. He specialized in investigations in the white collar crime area, that included investigations of securities fraud; bankruptcy fraud; healthcare fraud; mail fraud; wire fraud; money laundering; extortion; public corruption; and tax and currency related crimes. Mr. Nardone worked closely with other federal and state agencies, including the United States Attorneys Office, IRS Criminal Investigative Division, United States Postal Inspector Service, United States Customs Service, Securities and Exchange Commission, and the National Association of Securities Dealers.
As a FBI interview and interrogation instructor, Mr. Nardone worked with other FBI agents and law enforcement personnel to develop and refine the skills necessary to conduct interviews and interrogations effectively and efficiently.
