Jonathan Newton heads the corporate section of the Houston office of Baker & McKenzie and is a member of the Firm’s Corporate and Securities and Mergers and Acquisitions practice groups. Mr. Newton’s practice emphasizes his expertise in merger and acquisition transactions and public and private securities offerings. Mr. Newton also assists his clients with their other general corporate needs, including restructurings, Exchange Act compliance and general corporate planning and representation. In the cross-border area Mr. Newton has been responsible for and participated in the coordination of large, complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions. In addition to his private law practice, Mr. Newton ran for U.S. Congress in the 4th Congressional District in Texas as Republican in 2000. He has interned in Washington, D.C. in the United States House of Representatives and worked as a Judicial Assistant at Texas Supreme Court while in law school.
Mr. Newton is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Houston Bar Association and The Federalist Society.
