Mr. King is Legal Senior Director for Compliance Investigations with PepsiCo, Inc.
Prior to joining PepsiCo, he was Senior Counsel with Raytheon Company and Counsel to Hunton & Williams LLP in New York City. Prior to that, Mr. King was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Office of the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York.
Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, Mr. King served as the Director of Investigations and Law Enforcement in the White House Office of Homeland Security from December 2001 to June 2003. In that role, Mr. King was the law enforcement representative for the Homeland Security Advisor and was responsible for: (1) assisting with the coordination and monitoring of interagency law enforcement investigations and responses to terrorist threats and incidents; and (2) assisting with the development and drafting of Homeland Security Presidential Directive-3, which established the Homeland Security Advisory System. In addition, Mr. King served as the Chairman of the Law Enforcement & Investigations Policy Coordinating Committee’s Working Groups on Communications, Strategic Plans and Bio-Research Investigations.
From March 2006 through May 2009, Mr. King served as a Commissioner on the United States Foreign Claims Settlement Commission, a quasi-judicial, independent agency within the Department of Justice which adjudicates claims of U.S. nationals against foreign governments.
He was nominated for the position by President Bush on November 10, 2005, and confirmed by the Senate on February 17, 2006.
Mr. King is a member of the New York State bar, the American Bar Association (Administrative Law Section Committee on Homeland Security and the International Law Section Committee on National Security), the Federal Bar Association (former President of the Eastern District of New York Chapter), the Federalist Society and the National Defense Industrial Association. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of New York and the U.S. Court of International Trade.
Mr. King was also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School where he taught courses on Emergency Management & Response Law and Border & Homeland Security Law.
