Joseph Leventhal is an associate in Cooley Godward's Litigation department. He joined the firm in 2004 and is resident in the San Diego office.
Mr. Leventhalís practice focuses on general commercial and securities fraud litigation.
Prior to joining Cooley Godward, Mr. Leventhal served in the Executive Office of the President of the United States as Deputy Assistant to Vice President Cheney and Deputy Staff Secretary. During his tenure at the White House, Mr. Leventhal functioned as the final substantive control point before information reached the Vice President, as well as managed complex policy and political issues while representing the Vice Presidentís interests on all policy matters within the White House.
Mr. Leventhal has also worked as an associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP. In this position, his representative matters included product liability, contract dispute, intellectual property and class action.
Mr. Leventhal received his J.D., cum laude, in 2002 from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was an editor of the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal.
Mr. Leventhal graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 1999 with a degree in political science and a history minor. While at UCSD, he was elected student body president, representing almost 17,000 students. Mr. Leventhal now sits on the Board of Directors for the UCSD Alumni Association.
Mr. Leventhal was admitted to the California State Bar in 2002. He is a member of both the American Bar Association and San Diego County Bar Association.
