Mr. Massie is currently the General Counsel for K2 Financial, LLC, located in Delaware. Mr. Massie is responsible for all legal issues associated with the organization overseeing the securitization of loans, establishment of trusts, supporting customers dealing with loans, interest rate swaps and other financial products, with particular emphasis on reviewing contracts and developing procedures around collateral attributes of alternative investment products, credit products, UCC, bankruptcy, product marketing, telemarketing, and lending legal issues related to the analysis of new and unique structures, consumer laws, banking regulatory laws, and equity derivatives.
Prior to joining K2 Financial Mr. Massie was the Associate Vice President of Business Affairs and General Counsel for Saint Leo University, responsible for University legal affairs, Human Resources, and various business processes. Mr. Massie joined Saint Leo after serving as the Director of Tactical Analysis for Florida Atlantic University, where he was responsible for the development and management of the strategic direction, budget initiates, and special projects for FAU.
Prior to joining FAU, Mr. Massie operated his own management company dedicated to restructuring Not for Profit and For Profit Company’s management, organizational, and financial infrastructures. He was also an Adjunct Professor in the LL.M. Intellectual Property Law Program of the John Marshall Law School, Chicago Illinois, where he graduated with a LLM Degree in Intellectual Property law. Mr. Massie was previously Legal Counsel for Motorola University, where he counseled Motorola’s publishing and training organization on intellectual property issues, labor and employment matters, and contracts.
He was appointed by President Regan as an Assistant Secretary to the United States Department of Energy where he established and funded bank investments and loan programs, research initiatives, and university research and infrastructure development. Prior to joining the administration Mr. Massie was the Republican general election candidate for the United States House of Representatives. Formally, an Assistant Professor of Business Law at Stockton State College in New Jersey, Human Resource Department Consultant for several Casino Hotels in New Jersey, and Staff member for the New Jersey State Casino Control Commission. Mr. Massie obtained both his B.A. and J.D. degree from Seton Hall University and the University Law Center.
