Stephen J. Cox is an associate at Wilmer Hale LLP, in the Litigation and Regulatory Departments, and a member of the Defense and National Security practice. Mr. Cox has previous government experience in homeland security and law enforcement. Mr. Cox served as legal advisor to the Assistant Secretary of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the Department of Homeland Security. In his capacity at ICE, he advised the Assistant Secretary on a variety of legal, policy and operational matters, and he assisted her in overseeing the agency’s detention and removal operations and criminal investigations, as well as the agency’s high profile litigation and its Congressional and public relations. Before attending law school, Mr. Cox was a management consultant at Deloitte Consulting and a business analyst at Shell Oil Company. Mr. Cox is an active member of the Federalist Society.
