Most recently, Jennifer was appointed as the Vice Chair of the
Planning Commission for the City of Lathrop. She will be serving a four year term during which her duties will include to:
--Prepare, review and recommend to the City Council the adoption, amend or repeal of a long-range general plan for the physical development of the City and any land outside its boundaries which, in the judgment of the commission or Council, bears relation to the planning thereof;
--Review of the capital improvement program to determine if it is in compliance with the general plan of the City;
--Review all applications as required by the zoning and subdivision codes, including but not limited to zone changes, use permits and variances to determine if such requests are consistent with the general plan of the City and in compliance with all local codes and ordinances;
--Prepare, review and recommend to the City Council the adoption, amendment or repeal of specific plans consistent with the adopted general plan and recent SB5 200 year flood legislation.
As Chair Commissioner for the City of Lathrop's Measure C: Citizens' Oversight Committee, Jennifer acted in a lead advisory position to the City Council with respect to the legality of expenditures of revenue raised under the Measure C tax. Jennifer also worked on an annual public report of the Measure C revenues and expenditures by the City of Lathrop. Jennifer served as Chair from 2013-2014.
From 2012-2014, Jennifer served as a Commissioner and Vice Chair for the City of Lathrop's Parks and Recreation Committee where she acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council in all matters pertaining to recreation and parks.
Jennifer is also serving, concurrently, as both the Vice President and the Fundraising Chair of the Mossdale/Lathrop School Site Council for Manteca Unified School District where she assesses the needs of the school program related to the needs of pupils in order to develop a comprehensive "Site Plan" for student achievement per the California Education Code. Moreover, as the Fundraising Chair, Jennifer manages & coordinates fundraising activities while creating and organizing targeted fundraising opportunities throughout the local San Joaquin Community.
During law school, Jennifer was honored to intern with the the Office of Legislative Counsel of California in Sacramento, where she drafted and analyzed legislative measures, prepared opinions, both oral and written, regarding the effect and constitutionality of proposed legislative measures and other legal issues, gave advice regarding legislative rules and procedures, and attended committee hearings and floor sessions of the Legislature.
Prior to her service with the Office of Legislative Counsel, Jenifer worked as a law clerk for The Hassell Law Group in San Francisco, where she wrote settlement demand letters, drafted discovery requests and responses as well as complaints and causes of action, prepared client statements, and drafted legal memoranda.
Jennifer graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law. Jennifer earned both the WITKIN and the CALI Awards of Excellence for her legal writing and legal research. Jennifer also earned the WITKIN in Real Estate Finance. While in law school Jennifer was a Moot Court Board Member, a SBA Representative, a Peer Mentor. and a Dean's List Honoree.
Prior to law school, Jennifer attended U.C. Berkeley. Jennifer earned her BA in Rhetoric with a minor in German Studies. She maintained status on the Honor Roll throughout her schooling at Cal and was an active member in La Raza. Jennifer is a Lifetime Alumni Association Member, A Cal Band Supporter, and a Volunteer Legislative Advocate for Cal Advocacy. Go Bears!
