Andy is an attorney with extensive experience in tax planning, domestic and international wealth transfer planning for high net worth individuals and business owners, sophisticated tax centered transactions, asset protection planning, sophisticated life insurance planning, business succession planning, representing nonprofit entities and start-up and early stage companies seeking financing. He has been in law practice since 1986 and has a broad array of experience. He began his career as legal counsel to a judiciary committee of the Georgia General Assembly and as a prosecutor in DeKalb County, Georgia. After completing an advanced law degree in tax law, he worked in the Trust & Estates group of Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy (an Atlanta-based law firm that recently merged with Bryan Cave, LLP), and the Private Client Advisor Group of Deloitte & Touche where he concentrated his practice in business succession planning for family businesses throughout the Southeast. Andy also has served as director of an Atlanta, Georgia based multi-family office, and managing director of that firm’s legal practice.

Andy holds a B.A. in Humanities from Bob Jones University (1983), a J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law (1986) and an LL.M. in Taxation from the University Of Alabama School Of Law (1996). He is a member of the Georgia and Alabama Bar associations, and is admitted to the trial, appellate and Supreme courts of Georgia and Alabama, the Federal District Courts for the Northern District of Alabama, and the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the US Tax Court. He is a member of the Planned Giving Advisory Council for Georgia State University, the Public Policy Committee Advisory Council of the Angel Capital Association, the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, The Rotary Club of Savannah-South, and is a member and an Elder of the Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church.

Andy has taught numerous continuing legal education seminars on estate planning and administration, estate taxation, and advanced tax planning techniques, and hosted nationally broadcast seminars on income taxation of estates and trusts. Andy has also guest lectured at Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business and Georgia State Law School on corporate and tax related topics.

Andy is currently Of Counsel to Bart, Meyer and Company, LLP, a leading Savannah, Georgia law firm that focuses its practice on estate and trust planning, tax planning, and business representation for high net worth individuals, family businesses, entrepreneurs and physicians. He also serves as the Director of Legal and Fund Administration for West Mountain Partners, an Atlanta-based Fund of Hedge Funds, and is a founding member of the Global Angel Investor Network, LLC, an internet-based “Super Angel” investment organization.

Andy lives in Savannah, Georgia with his wife of 19 years and their two daughters.
