Monique A. Miles is the Managing Shareholder of Old Towne Associates, P.C., where she focuses her practice primarily in the areas of employment, labor, non-profit law, and general civil litigation.
Ms. Miles represents both individuals and select small businesses in a wide variety of claims, including breach of contract, wage and hour violations, sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, breach of contract, wrongful termination, defamation, fraud, negligence and other torts. She also drafts and reviews employment agreements, negotiates severance agreements, and assists employers and former employees in dealing with the enforceability of restrictive covenants.
Prior to opening her firm in June 2013, Ms. Miles worked as an associate at Charlson Bredehoft Cohen Brown & Sakata, P.C, where she handled a variety of complex employment and labor law matters involving business tort and contract claims, employment discrimination and retaliation claims, False Claims Act and Family Medical Leave Act claims. Ms. Miles also previously worked for a non-profit law firm that focused on immigration-related matters involving employment discrimination and retaliation, tax-exempt organizations, voter fraud, and Administrative Procedure Act litigation.
Ms. Miles has earned a reputation for zealously representing clients in Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Ms. Miles earned her B.A. in Foreign Affairs and Philosophy from the University of Virginia and her J.D. from Regent University School of Law. Ms. Miles served as a summer law clerk with the Executive Office of Immigration Review’s Board of Immigration Appeals, where she handled complex cases involving asylum eligibility, Chinese coercive population control policy, and the United Nations Convention Against Torture.
Ms. Miles received an Outstanding Service Award from the Virginia State Bar Young Lawyers Conference in June 2012 for her service as Chair of the Women and Minorities in the Profession Commission. Ms. Miles currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Virginia State Bar Young Lawyers Conference and of the Board for the Legal Services Corporation of Virginia.
Ms. Miles is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the District of Columbia, and the federal trial courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia. Ms. Miles is a member of the Virginia Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, the Alexandria Bar Association, the Fairfax Bar Association, the Northern Virginia Black Attorneys Association, the Virginia Women Attorneys Association, and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.
Ms. Miles enjoys classical ballet, running, traveling, and collecting tea during her world travels.
