Mr. Herman is a partner in the litigation section of Oliver Maner LLP, in Savannah, Georgia His practice focuses on general insurance defense litigation, professional liability defense litigation, D&O and association defense, commercial and contract litigation, real estate matters, banking, foreclosure, lien and creditors' rights matters, professional licensure law and administrative litigation. Mr. Herman joined Oliver Maner LLP in September of 2007. Prior to that time, Mr. Herman practiced for several years with law firms in Philadelphi aand Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Herman is admitted to practice before the Georgia and Pennsylvania state courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Georgia and the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania. He is also admitted to the Courts of Appeals for the Eleventh and Third Circuits. Mr. Herman has also been recognized as a Rising Star by the Georgia Super Lawyers publication.
Mr. Herman received his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the Widener University School of Law. Prior to that, Mr. Herman earned Bachelors of Arts degrees, magna cum laude, in Political Science and Rhetoric/Communications from the University of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Herman is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Savannah Bar Association.
Mr. Hermanís academic distinctions include: Senior Staff, Widener Journal of Public Law; admission to the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society; selection as a Widener Academic Scholarship awardee; selection as an LBJ Research Fellow; selection as a Brackenridge Research Fellow; membership in the University of Pittsburgh Honors College; selection to the Academic Deanís List at Widener University and the University of Pittsburgh; and Certificates of Meritorious Distinction recipient in several law courses.
Mr. Herman has authored several scholarly articles selected for publication, He has also authored several articles for The Pennsylvania REALTORģ, the Defense Digest, the Philadelphia Legal Intelligencer, The Pennsylvania Law Weekly, The Savannah Board of Realtors Newsletter, and several insurance industry publications. Mr. Herman has also lectured on professional liability defense and real estate matters.
Prior to joining Oliver Maner LLP, Mr. Herman practiced in the areas of professional liability defense, insurance defense, school and municipal law, real estate, and employment law with two Pennsylvania law firms.
Before entering law school, Mr. Herman worked on several political campaigns, and as a legislative staffer, both in Washington, D.C. and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and as a legislative liaison for a former Governor of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Herman is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society, an Affiliate member of, and General Counsel to, the Savannah Area Board of Realtors, and an Instructor of Law at the Armstrong Atlantic State University. He is also active in the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce and serves as Vice President and General Counsel to the Savannah Area Young Republicans and to the Chatahm County Republican Party. Mr. Herman is also a gradutate of Leadership Savannah and is a current Board Member of Junior Achievement. Previously, Mr. Herman was a member of the Board of Directors for the Susquehanna Division of the March of Dimes, and he remains a participating member of the University of Pittsburgh Alumni Association.
