Born in Maine in 1980, my mother is a teacher from a local French/English family. My father was in the US Navy stationed in Brunswick when they met and were married. My father retired from the service in 1994 as a Master Chief Petty Officer (E-9). I lived in Maine from 1980 until 1983 then relocated to Pennsylvania (where my father was originally from) until we moved back to Maine in 1984. In 1989 we moved to Southern Maryland where I stayed through High school until 1999. In 1997 I joined the local fire department and decided to be a career fire and emergency services professional. I attended the University of Maryland College Park until 1999, then following my father's footsteps I enlisted in the United States Navy. I served on three ships, the USS Trenton, I built and commissioned the USS Nitze, and the USS Mahan. I advanced to E-6 in 5 years, and decided to change my path and went to Navy Special Warfare at Little Creek NAB where I was assigned as a Direct Support Technician/Engineer under Naval Special Warfare Group 4/Special Boat Team 20 as a Mark V SOC Specialist. I made a combat deployment to CENTCOM, upon my return I was transferred to shore duty following a series of surgeries and an injury. I served as command staff at Naval Station Norfolk from October of 2009 until I left the service in September of 2011 due to military downsizing. I am a disabled veteran, however having the foresight to understand that the Military is only a temporary period, I completed my Bachelors Degree, began my Masters degree in Legal Studies and Homeland Security (which I will complete in June of this year), and first year of law school; as well as various professional certifications while on active duty. I immediately felt called to the study and practice of law during my service and following my undergraduate studies. I began the process of engaging my law school career approximately 9 months prior to leaving the service and before I knew I was going to be involuntarily separated from the military. I was honored by receiving the Navy Commendation Medal upon my departure from the service. Subsequent awards include two Navy Achievement Medals, four Good Conduct Awards, two Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Awards, an Military Expeditionary Medal, and the Military Unit Commendation. Immediately upon leaving the military service I began my full-time job as a law student, which I love deeply. One of my greatest moments as a law student was hearing Justice Alito speak during our 25 Anniversary Gala, as well as having the opportunity to meet former Lt. Gov. Michael Steele recently whom I respect and admire deeply. I believe deeply in the constitution, our state of fiscal insolvency we are heading down as a nation, and the constant intrusion into State's rights affairs by the Federal Government. I believe that he GOP and the RNC are heading into the wrong direction and that they will systematically implode and go the way of the Wigs if they do not come back to our conservative roots.
