John Tsanas is the founder and president of Excalibur Global Strategic Consultants, Inc., a 20-year-old company providing management consulting, financial and legal services for corporations and partnerships associated with or wanting to invest in the automotive, media/entertainment, hospitality and e-commerce industries. Through a unique management-consulting matrix, John assists corporations and entrepreneurs in negotiating and managing their most pivotal decisions regarding general corporate operations and acquisitions, contracts, procurement, litigation, real estate transactions, employment decisions, financing options and organizational administration.
Early in his career, John was an attorney at several Wall Street firms specializing in mergers and acquisitions, securities, banking and real estate law, and representing clients in the entertainment, publishing, banking, precious metals, environmental and aviation industries. During this period he also served as general counsel to several of these companies, most prominently to a water purification company.
Upon leaving law firm practice, he served as general counsel to a mid-market ad sales company involved with children's animation and products. He spent the next few years helping senior management to expand the company into a worldwide entertainment and merchandising enterprise with annual revenues of several hundred million dollars. John represented the company in its negotiations with major studios, broadcast companies, public relations firms, telemarketing companies and merchandising vendors both in the U.S. and internationally.
As a government official to a billion-dollar NYC public benefit corporation, John was asked to manage all legal/property matters relating to the corporation's real estate holdings while also negotiating the major vendor/supply contracts with the goal of improving the overall profitability of the corporation for the eventual benefit of the citizens of New York City. Upon a successful tenure at that organization, John continued his public service for several more years as counsel to the FDNY handling administrative matters and the high profile litigation pertaining to the World Trade Center.
A native New Yorker, John earned his BA, Magna Cum Laude/Phi Beta Kappa and MBA from Columbia University, and a JD from New York University. He is a member of the NYC Bar Association, as well as an active finance member of the Columbia College and Columbia Business School Alumni Associations. A former White House Fellowship Regional Finalist, John has served on the transition teams of NYC Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and NJ Governor Chris Christie. Always interested in public service, John took a leave of absence from Excalibur to work in the Giuliani and Bloomberg Administrations.
As an attorney, business executive and former government official John leverages over 30 years of private and public sector experience to counsel on important international and corporate legal matters, decision-making processes and the strategic development planning for corporations and individuals.
