Alan Simpson is an attorney with Graves Garrett and an active member of the firmís free speech and election law practice. Alan advises corporations, trade associations, political groups and committees, candidates, PACs, and individuals on federal, state, and local campaign finance and election laws, tax laws, government ethics, and lobbying laws. Alan also represents political clients in investigations, administrative proceedings, trials, and appellate proceedings. Additionally, Alan is an experienced litigator who represents clients in matters including constitutional litigation, commercial litigation, and white collar criminal defense.
Prior to joining Graves Garrett, Alan served as a law clerk to the Hon. Julie A. Robinson in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas and the Hon. Arthur I. Harris in Cleveland, Ohio.
Alan graduated, with honors, from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri. He earned his undergraduate degree in economics and statistics, magna cum laude, from the University of Missouri. Alan is licensed to practice in Missouri and Kansas, including the United States District Courts for the Western District of Missouri and the District of Kansas. He is a member of the Federalist Society, the Republican National Lawyers Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Lawyers Association of Kansas City, where he serves on the board of directors for the Young Lawyers Section.
Alan resides in the Kansas City area with his wife, Colleen.
