Paul Carter is a Long Beach attorney who is committed to the republican principles of: (1) A Belief in Smaller Government; (2) Support of the Federalist System of Government; (3) Fiscal Conservatism; (3) Strong National Defense; and (4) Individual Liberties and Responsibilities.

Paul is very involved in his professional community, serving as Vice President of the Long Beach Bar Association and he is also a member of the Ball / Hunt Inn of Court.

In terms of the greater community, Paul serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for St. Mary Medical Center Foundation; and is a member of the Board of Directors for St. Mary Tower, providing much needed residential apartment living to low income senior citizens. Paul is a member of the president California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) Board of Governors; and he is also a member of the Long Beach Yacht Club where he has previously served as Judge Advocate.

While at CSUF, Paul was a Docent at the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace, where he first discovered his interest in Richard Nixon's Southern California life. In 2010 Paul published Native Son: Richard Nixon's Southern California, a unique map biography that is the culmination of years of research and interviews. The map is a best seller at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library gift shop. Paul is currently finishing Native Son: Southern California’s Richard Nixon, a biography about which Ed Nixon (Richard’s sole surviving brother) commented: “Native Son is remarkably well done and is the best biography of my brother that I have read. Even as one who witnessed Dick’s life first hand, I am amazed at the factual detail in which Native Son tells the story of my brother’s life. Paul Carter has crafted a fascinating, lawyerly narrative, scrupulously following the evidence in his research. By shifting the focus of Dick’s life from Washington, D.C. to Southern California, for the very first time, the true Dick Nixon is revealed. For those who have not yet made up their mind about my brother, Native Son will provide revelatory reading, and I have no doubt it will persuade those whose minds have heretofore been made up to reevaluate their assumptions and reinvest the time to take another look at his life.”

Paul is also very involved in the political community. In 2008 Paul served as an Alternate Delegate to the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota; in 2012 Paul was a Delegate to the RNC in Tampa Bay; In September 2015 Paul, a board member of Veterans for a Strong America, hosted Donald Trump to the USS Iowa; and Paul currently serves as the Chairman of the Long Beach chapter of the Los Angeles Lincoln Club. In addition, each election cycle Paul serves as chairman of Election Day operations for the Los Angeles County Republican Party.

Paul has four children and in his spare time, he enjoys doing whatever his kids tell him to do.
