David Shestokas is the author of Constitutional Sound Bites and a regular guest on Haus Rules with Michael Hausam every Wednesday at 9:15 AM CDT (10:15 Eastern, 7:15 Pacific).

David Shestokas earned his B.A. in Political Science from Bradley University in 1975 and his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School, cum laude, in June of 1987. In 1986-87 he served on The John Marshall Law Review. He studied comparative legal systems at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. Shestokas is a policy adviser for The Heartland Institute.

Mr. Shestokas has been admitted to practice law before the Illinois Supreme Court in 1987, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 1988, the Supreme Court of Florida in 2004, and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida in 2006. In 1990 he was the Republican nominee for the United States Congress from Illinois’ Fifth District.

David Shestokas is the author of the Constitutional Sound Bites series that explains the history, philosophy and meaning of our Founding documents. He is the host a weekly radio show: Constitutionally Speaking. His website, Constitutional Legal Education and News devotes itself to explaining the Constitution.

He is a former Assistant State’s Attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in Chicago, IL. During that service he was involved in over 10,000 criminal prosecutions. As an Assistant State’s Attorney he also worked on the Felony Review Unit, participating in police investigations and making charging decisions in over 400 felony matters.

As a prosecutor and criminal defense attorney he has lived with the Constitution in the courtroom daily for more than twenty years. He has done volunteer work for the Salvation Army providing pro bono legal services for the homeless, and volunteered his time to educate at risk youth about the values ingrained in America’s Founding.
