BIO

Harvey M. Tettlebaum is a partner in the Jefferson City Office of Husch Blackwell, LLP. He is a recognized expert in the Health Care, Election and Administrative Law areas. He is a member of the Firm's Health Care, Government Affairs and Appellate Practice Groups. Prior to going into private practice in 1977, he was Assistant Dean at Washington University School of Law (1969-1970), and he served as Assistant Attorney General under John Danforth for eight years, operating as Chief Counsel of the Consumer Protection and Anti-Trust Divisions of that office. His duties also included representing state occupation and professional licensing boards and commissions, acting as liaison counsel with the Public Service Commission and the Division of Insurance, and administering Division offices in Jefferson City, Kansas City and St. Louis. He was Treasurer of the Missouri Republican Party from 1977 - 2004. He serves as outside general counsel to the Missouri Republican Party. He has been active in grass roots politics since 1968 and has served as Chair of the Moniteau County, Missouri, Republican Central Committee, is a member of the Missouri Republican State Committee, since 1972 has been Chair of the Republican candidate for President committee in his county and Chair of Missouri Lawyers for Bush-Quayle (1992), Missouri Lawyers for Dole-Kemp (1996), Co-Chair Missouri Lawyers for Bush-Cheney (2000 & 2004). He has been a member of the RNLA Board of Governors since 1992. He is active in the Missouri Bar Association, having served as Chair of the Administrative Law Committee, Vice-Chair of the Health and Hospital Law Committee, and Chair of the Commercial Law Committee. He served as Vice-Chair of the Delivery of Legal Services Committee. He was vice-chair and is a member of the Missouri Statewide Legal Services Commission. He is also a member of the American Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a Fellow of the American Health Lawyers Association. Tettlebaum earned an A.B. from Dartmouth College in 1964, a J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 1968, and an A.M. Degree in History from Washington University in 1968. He is the author of several publications on long-term care, administrative law and consumer law, and has presented programs on long-term care, fraud and abuse, and other health care law topics at national and regional seminars, including the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA), American Health Care Association, National Association of District Attorneys, Missouri Bar Association, Missouri Health Care Association, Missouri Dental Association, and Missouri State Medical Association. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the AHLA, as Chair of its Audit Committee, and has served as Chair of the AHLA Long Term Care and the Law Program, and is past Chair of its Post Acute Care Practice Group. He is a member of and past Chair of the Legal Subcommittee of the American Health Care Association. He was a member of the United States Magistrate Selection Commission (1988) and the Federal Judicial Merit Selection Commission (1991). He is listed in Best Lawyers In America, Who's Who In America, and Who's Who In The Law. He is the recipient of The Missouri Bar President's Award, 2000 and 2003.
