The Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) congratulates Federal Election Commissioner Trey Trainor on receiving board certification in Legislative and Campaign Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS). Trainor is one of only 14 lawyers in the state of Texas to earn this prestigious certification, which recognizes a high level of expertise in the regulation of legislative institutions, campaign funding and operations, public integrity, and related constitutional issues.
“Trey has been a member of the RNLA for approximately two decades, a frequent speaker at RNLA CLE events, and a pro-First Amendment voice on the FEC since 2020,” said RNLA President and Executive Director Michael Thielen. “This recognition by his home state bar in Texas reflects the high level of competence among members of the RNLA.”

The TBLS’s board certification program is a rigorous process overseen by a twelve-member board appointed by the President of the State Bar of Texas and approved by its Board of Directors. The program is subject to oversight by the Supreme Court of Texas and is designed to acknowledge attorneys who demonstrate a thorough understanding and proficiency in specialized areas of law, including legislative and campaign law.
Trey Trainor’s certification is a testament to his dedication to public service and his continued leadership on issues relating to elections, political advocacy, and government transparency.
The RNLA is proud of Commissioner Trainor’s achievement and applauds his continued contributions to the field of election law and his strong defense of the Constitution.
