Republicans Provide Stark Contrast to Biden Border Visit
Two separate groups of Republican senators had eventful visits to the southern border this week, providing a stark contrast to President Biden's visit over the weekend. As we noted earlier this week, the Biden visit was short and provided a sanitized look at the issues facing border states.

Biden Finally Visits the Border
On Sunday, President Biden finally visited the U.S.-Mexico Border after two years in office. Ironically, one highlight of President Biden's trip was a photo-op in front of the border wall erected by the Trump Administration to deter illegal border crossings from Mexico—the very same border wall that he and other Democrats pledged to cease building. In recent weeks, both Democrats and Republicans have criticized President Biden for the border crisis created by his administration.

Biden's Student Loan Forgiveness Plan Keeps Losing in Court
Earlier this week, the Eighth Circuit became the latest court to strike down the Biden Administration's student loan forgiveness plan. The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board explained:
The appellate court’s unsigned opinion focuses on the threshold question of whether Missouri suffered a concrete and particular injury to sue. Missouri argued that the loan cancellation would cost its student loan servicer, Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority (Mohela), revenue and impose administrative burdens.

Early Friday, House Judiciary Republicans released a new report entitled, "FBI Whistleblowers: What Their Disclosures Indicate About the Politicization of the FBI And Justice Department."
#BREAKING: Republicans Release 1,000 Page Report on FBI & DOJ Politicization
— House Judiciary GOP (@JudiciaryGOP) November 4, 2022
The report builds on various whistleblower disclosures describing the FBI’s Washington hierarchy as “rotted at its core” with a “systemic culture of unaccountability.” https://t.co/6psSABaaIk
In sum, the report explained:
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the stewardship of Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland, is broken. The problem lies not with the majority of front-line agents who serve our country, but with the FBI’s politicized bureaucracy. The problem lies, for example, with the FBI hierarchy that spied on President Trump’s campaign and ridiculed conservative Americans. The problem lies with FBI bureaucrats who altered and mischaracterized evidence to federal courts, circumvented safeguards, and exploited weaknesses in policies governing investigations and informants to target politically disfavored subjects and to protect favored ones. The problem lies with the FBI structure that centralizes high-profile cases in D.C., in the hands of politicized actors with politicized incentives. Quite simply, the problem—the rot within the FBI—festers in and proceeds from Washington.

Border Crisis Fueled by Migrants from "Remote Countries"
When thinking about illegal immigration, immigration from Central America typically comes to mind. However, more and more immigrants are coming from countries beyond our neighbors directly to the south of us:
Undocumented crossings at the U.S. southern border have long been dominated by people from Mexico and Central America — but for the first time since at least the turn of the century, migrants from other nations made up the majority of those stopped by authorities.

VP Harris — Another Filibuster Flip-Flopper
This past weekend, Vice President Kamala Harris doubled down on her position as one of the biggest flip-floppers in the Democrat Party on keeping the filibuster when she told attendees at the Democrat National Committee's summer meeting that abolishing the filibuster would be a priority if Democrats retain control of the Senate after November's midterm elections. In 2017, then-Senator Harris signed a bipartisan letter arguing that the filibuster must stay in place "to preserve the ability of Members to engage in extended debate when bills are on the Senate floor."

Biden Border Crisis is Deadlier Than Ever
There is no greater example of the breakdown of law and order under the Biden administration than the crisis on our southern border. According to a report by CNN, the crisis is the deadliest it's ever been, with a record number of migrants who've died crossing the border during the last fiscal year:
Nearly 750 migrants have died at the southern border this fiscal year, a record that surpasses last year's total by more than 200 people, according to Department of Homeland Security figures shared with CNN. . .
