During today's Committee on House Administration hearing discussing the Elections Clause, Rep. Brian Steil called out Vice President Kamala Harris for insinuating that rural Americans are incapable of complying with voter ID laws. In a recent interview for BET, Vice President Harris argued that rural Americans are unable to photocopy their ID. This is just another example of Democrats' ludicrous claims that voter ID laws amount to "voter suppression."

The RNC has won the first major battle against the attacks on Georgia's recent election reforms. On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge J.P. Boulee denied a request to halt the enforcement of provisions of the state law relating to absentee voting. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported:

As crime surges in the Democrat-run cities of America, another city has voted to slash a proposed budget for its police force. Last week, the Oakland City Council voted to divert millions of dollars away from the city's police department despite the recent rise in crime:

The Oakland, California, police chief spoke out on Monday against city leaders after they voted to divert nearly $20 million from law enforcement amid an alarming spike in crime.

On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a decision in Terry v. United States. The holding is not particularly novel. The Court upheld Terry's sentence for a drug offense because recent changes to mandatory minimum sentencing did not apply to the offense he was convicted of. As Ed Whelan explained in the National Review, this decision is an embarrassment for the Biden Solicitor General because the DOJ decided not to defend the lower court's decision at the last minute.

College campuses are often seen as a battleground for the First Amendment. On Monday, Reps. Jim Jordan and Kat Cammack announced the creation of a campus free speech caucus with the intention of raising awareness among their colleagues about the challenges that many students, professors, and administrators alike face when exercising their First Amendment rights on campus. Jordan and Cammack will partner with Young America's Foundation on the initiative:

“The First Amendment is under attack on campuses across the country,” said Congressman Jim Jordan. “Every day, students and faculty are forced to self-censor out of fear that they will be ‘canceled’ by the mob. The Campus Free Speech Caucus, led by Rep. Kat Cammack and inspired by YAF, will work with Congress to push back on ‘woke’ cancel culture and defend freedom for Americans everywhere.”

On Tuesday, President Joe Biden announced that Vice President Kamala Harris would lead the Administration's election law effort. It should come as no surprise that the Biden Administration is assigning the task to Vice President Harris. The Corrupt Politicians Act (H.R.1/S.1), a federal takeover of elections, is the Democrats' number one priority.

President Joe Biden's Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States met for the first time on Wednesday afternoon as calls for court packing and for Justice Breyer to retire increase. CBS News reports:

In its first meeting, which lasted less than 30 minutes, the commission's members were sworn in, and they adopted its bylaws. The group also laid out its schedule and structure. Over the next six months, the panel is set to meet six times, and in its next meeting, commissioners will hear testimony about Supreme Court reform.
