Today, the Honorable Edwin Meese III, 75th United States Attorney General, was honored by President Donald Trump with the Presidential Medal of Freedom during a ceremony at the White House. 

RNLA Vice President for Communications and 2018 Republican Lawyer of the Year Harmeet Dhillon had a busy day pushing back against the efforts to #Resist President Trump.  She wrote an op-ed defending Justice Brett Kavanaugh against the latest attacks by the Democrats and the liberal media and she won an injunction against California's thinly veiled effort to keep President Trump off the ballot next year.

On Tuesday, the California Republican Party and its Chairperson, represented by former RNLA President and Board of Governors member Chuck Bell, filed an emergency petition for a writ of mandate in the California Supreme Court, challenging California's new law requiring presidential candidates to disclose their tax returns prior to appearing on California's presidential primary ballot.  As we wrote on Tuesday, this law is a blatantly political maneuver to keep President Trump off the ballot, and a federal lawsuit against it is also pending.

Former special counsel Robert Mueller testified this morning for the first time in front of the House Judiciary Committee regarding his report on Russian interference in the 2016 election. 

While Americans know that no collusion occurred between the Trump campaign and the Russian government, many questions remain regarding the false allegations against the President that started this probe in the first place.

On Thursday evening, President Donald J. Trump announced that he would be issuing an executive order requiring every federal agency to furnish records relating to the number of citizens and noncitizens present in the country to the Commerce Department.

There was one consistent theme throughout the testimony of Attorney General Bill Barr yesterday – Democrats failed to get any of their attacks to stick and only accomplished embarrassing themselves at every accusatory question.

Today, Attorney General William Barr testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on the report by special counsel Robert Mueller.

He re-affirmed what we already know to be true: President Trump did not collude with the Russian government.

As expected, Democrats’ theatrics were put on full display throughout the hearing as they attacked AG Barr and accused him of petty mishandling of the report.

For quite some time, there have been allegations that Obama-era intelligence officers were politically motivated during the 2016 presidential election and spied on the Trump campaign. While Democrats have completely dismissed this potentially serious abuse of power, U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr testified this week that he suspects misconduct of federal authorities did in fact occur.

During the 115th Congress, President Donald Trump, former White House Counsel Don McGahn, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley have had great accomplishments regarding the appointment of conservative judges. There have been 85 new federal judges confirmed, including Justice Gorsuch, Justice Kavanaugh, 30 circuit court judges, and 53 district court judges. Despite these accomplishments, Senate Democrats continue their obstruction by holding up the confirmation of six more circuit court judges and 48 district court nominees.

On Wednesday, Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney, was sentenced to three years in prison as part of a plea bargain with the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Michael Cohen plead guilty to eight counts of financial crimes: tax fraud (five counts), making false statements to a financial institution, unlawful corporation contributions, and excessive campaign contributions. Although he plead guilty to counts of unlawful corporation contributions and excessive campaign contributions, it does not mean that what happened was illegal; therefore, he plead guilty to something that was not a federal crime. It is evident that the U.S. Attorney’s office is taking an overaggressive approach, especially since they might have violated their own Justice Department’s policy.
