Earlier today, Senate Rules Democrats took their "phony hysteria" about state election laws "on the road" and held a field hearing in Atlanta, Georgia. The hearing was Democrats' latest stunt in their quest to enact a federal takeover of elections. As Republican Leader Mitch McConnell pointed out:

“Democrats’ fake outrage may have driven jobs and opportunities out of the state of Georgia, but I’m sure Georgians will appreciate that Democrats are bringing their own partisan circus to town instead.

The RNC has won the first major battle against the attacks on Georgia's recent election reforms. On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge J.P. Boulee denied a request to halt the enforcement of provisions of the state law relating to absentee voting. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported:

On Friday, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that the U.S. Department of Justice would be using Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act to sue the state of Georgia over its 2021 election law package recently signed into law. As reported by Margot Cleveland for The Federalist:

First, the DOJ complains that Georgia prohibits the distribution of unsolicited absentee ballot applications then also bars private organizations from distributing duplicate absent ballot applications. Next, the DOJ challenges Georgia’s requirement that in requesting an absentee ballot that voters either provide their driver’s license number or present a photocopy of another form of identification — but even a utility bill would suffice.

Last week, Job Creators Network filed a complaint against Major League Baseball (MLB) in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York over the economic damage caused by the League's decision to move the 2021 All-Star Game from Atlanta because of a recent election law signed by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp (SB 202). ABC news reported: 

The complaint says the metro Atlanta area has suffered “staggering” financial losses from relocating the game, citing how more than 8,000 hotel reservations have been canceled. More than 41,000 MLB fans were expected to attend All-Star game events, it said.

The Left continues to incessantly attack newly-signed election laws in Georgia and Iowa which fall well within the mainstream. Despite this seeming obsession with state election reforms, they routinely ignore one the most important components of the new laws—they hold local election officials accountable for their election administration failures. As the RNC's Chief Counsel, Justin Riemer, explained in a recent op-ed, how elections are managed at the local level "make or break" them: 

[L]ess discussed are parts of the laws that hold to account and punish poor local election management practices.

For the second time in a week, congressional Democrats held a hearing on Thursday to propagate their narrative that state election law reforms are a new wave of systematic voter discrimination. This time, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties held a hearing entitled, "Oversight of the Voting Rights Act: The Evolving Landscape of Voting Discrimination." The hearing primarily focused on the issue of voter ID with the Democrat members of the Committee and their witnesses insisting that support for voter ID by Republicans was an attempt to suppress votes. But Mark Robinson, the first Black Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina, repeatedly debunked that myth:

On Tuesday, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing about recent state election reforms across the country. The title of the hearing itself was an offensive and insensitive characterization of the reforms, saying they are a repeat of the discriminatory voting laws in the Jim Crow South.

Major League Baseball's decision to move the 2021 All-Star Game from Georgia to Colorado in response to Georgia's new election law has caused many to scratch their heads considering the reality of election laws in other states with close connections to the League. As an editorial from the Washington Examiner points out, the move was a "cheap and easy way of getting credit for being socially responsible."

The backlash by woke corporate interests in response to Georgia's new election law got even worse over the weekend, and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell has something to say about it: “We are witnessing a coordinated campaign by powerful and wealthy people to mislead and bully the American people," he said in a statement released on Monday morning.

Last week, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed a sweeping election reform bill into law that strengthens the state's election system. Unsurprisingly, the law was immediately met with criticism from those on the left including President Joe Biden and woke corporate interests who easily caved to pressure. During his first press conference since becoming president (yes, his first), Joe Biden made the ludicrous assertion that Georgia and other states hoping to enact election reforms make "Jim Crow look like Jim Eagle.”
