CA GOP in Court: Newsom's Stay-at-Home Order Prohibits Ballot Harvesting, Right?

Posted on Blog by Lisa Dixon · May 01, 2020 8:58 PM

Yesterday, the California Republican Party, represented by RNLA Co-Chair Harmeet Dhillon, filed suit in the Superior Court for Sacramento County against Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, Attorney General Xavier Becerra, and Secretary of State Alex Padilla.

The complaint seeks clarification of the governor's overreaching Stay Home Order in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which could be interpreted to designate ballot harvesters as "nonessential workers" who must stay home under the order.  The complaint seeks clarification so that "all candidates and their supporters are . . . abiding by the same rules" for the May 12 special congressional election.

RNLA Co-Chair Harmeet Dhillon Defends Religious Liberty Against Overreaching CA Coronavirus Orders

RNLA Co-Chair Harmeet Dhillon's non-profit organization, Center for American Liberty, is threatening to sue two California counties for banning all out-of-home participation in religious services as part of their overreaching orders during the COVID-19 pandemic.  If the counties do not rescind their orders or provide accommodation for religious liberty by this evening, in the midst of important Jewish and Christian religious holidays, the Center for American Liberty will seek an injunction:

Wisconsin Democrats Were Fighting to Vote AFTER the Election Was Over

Posted on Blog by Michael Thielen · April 07, 2020 7:55 PM

It is not an optimal situation but let’s be real, context and the rule of law matter. Honest liberals and even Joe Biden give qualified agreement for holding the Wisconsin elections today.  Yet this is a bit extreme but typical of the reaction on the left.

There are many problems with the left's reaction. First, keep in mind what Democrat Presidential frontrunner Joe Biden stated:

“There’s a lot of things that can be done; that’s for the Wisconsin courts and folks to decide,” former Vice President Joe Biden said last Thursday in a virtual press briefing, in which he insisted that in-person and mail-in voting could both be done safely—even though he considers the possibility of a national convention in the state to be a potential risk to public health.

Leader McConnell Fights For Federalism; Stops Pelosi's Voting Mandate

Posted on Blog by Michael Thielen · March 25, 2020 7:32 PM

The deadlock and delay of economic relief for all Americans and emergency supplies for our nurses and doctors was in large part over House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's desire to mandate how elections are run.  Pelosi wanted to force all states to have 15 days of early voting, same-day registration, unlimited ballot harvesting, and universal vote by mail.  Fortunately federalism prevailed.  As Senator Mike Lee stated:

I agree with @RepThomasMassie. Regardless of what one might think about voting by mail, Congress has no authority to enact a universal vote-by-mail mandate. https://t.co/HToC9kU7z6

Democrats' Impeachment Process a "Mockery" of Constitution

California Loses in Its Unconstitutional Effort to Disenfranchise Voters

Posted on Blog by Lisa Dixon · October 02, 2019 7:17 PM

After issuing a preliminary injunction against California's law requiring presidential candidates to release their tax returns before appearing on the ballot -- a clear attack on President Trump -- a couple weeks ago, a judge on the Eastern District of California issued an order yesterday explaining the basis for finding the law unconstitutional on several grounds.  RNLA leaders and members have been leading the fight against California's anti-Trump law: Harmeet Dhillon, Mark Meuser, Justin Clark, and Stefan Passantino are litigating the federal law challenge to the law, while Chuck Bell is litigating the state law challenge.

Has California's Secretary of State Forsaken his Duty and Become a Glorified Clerk?

Posted on Blog by Lisa Dixon · October 01, 2019 7:14 PM

RNLA Vice President for Communications and 2018 Republican Lawyer of the Year Harmeet Dhillon, along with RNLA member Mark Meuser, is once again standing up for election integrity and the rule of law in California.  They filed a request for declaratory and indicative relief in the Eastern District of California today alleging that Democratic Secretary of State Alex Padilla's failure to use available resources to confirm that people are U.S. citizens prior to registering them to vote violates the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA):
