When thinking about illegal immigration, immigration from Central America typically comes to mind. However, more and more immigrants are coming from countries beyond our neighbors directly to the south of us:

The breakdown of law and order on our southern border with Mexico has reached new heights with over 2 million migrant encounters in fiscal year 2022 alone:

The number of migrant encounters at the southern border this fiscal year has now exceeded two million, sources tell Fox News — a number that marks a new record, as well as a glaring sign of the enormous and ongoing crisis facing agents, officials and communities at the border.

While Title 42, a public health policy that many see as the only thing stopping massive numbers of migrants from attempting to cross the southern border, is expected to expire in May, President Biden is now feeling pressure from his own party to keep the policy in place. Of course, Democrats' opposition to the policy probably has more to do with their vulnerable status in the upcoming midterms rather than a desire for stronger border security:

While the move to end Title 42 has certainly sparked backlash from Republicans who support hard-line immigration policies, a great deal of Democrats, several who are up for re-election or seeking other positions, are also expressing concern over its planned removal as conditions at the southern border continue to deteriorate.

As evident by Speaker Pelosi’s and Minority Leader Schumer’s response, the Democrats are continuing to let partisan politics control these issues and are failing to acknowledge the humanitarian and national security crisis that exists, and are refusing to provide support to border patrol agents who protect our nation. The Democrats are the sole cause for the partial government shutdown and are ensuring that there are a lack of resources at the southern border.
