Election Denier Jeffries Likely to Succeed Pelosi as House Democrat Leader

Posted on Blog by Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) · November 21, 2022 8:55 PM

Since current Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced her intent to step back from holding a leadership role, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries of New York has emerged as the clear front runner to succeed her as House Democrat Leader. Like other prominent figures in the Democrat Party, Jeffries has a history as an election results denier.

Hakeem Jeffries fits right in.

Democrats Endanger Justices, Refuse to Help

Posted on Blog by Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) · June 09, 2022 6:43 PM

Justice Kavanaugh’s would-be assassin is in part the result of a problem created by Democrats who have called for violence against the U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative justices for their support for overruling Roe v. Wade, which was confirmed by the recent Dobbs draft opinion leak.

But worse yet, Democrats not only refuse to condemn the would-be assassin’s actions and other violence against the justices, they are intentionally blocking legislation that would provide the justices clearly needed protection. As Republican Leader Mitch McConnell stated:

This is exactly why the Senate passed legislation very shortly after the leak to enhance the police protection for the Justices and their families. This is commonsense, noncontroversial legislation that passed this chamber unanimously.

But House Democrats have spent weeks blocking it. The House Democratic majority has refused to take it up.  That needs to change. Right now. House Democrats must pass this bill and they must do it today. House Democrats need to stop their multi-week blockade against the Supreme Court security bill and pass it before the sun sets today.

Radical Democrats Introduce Legislation to Pack the Supreme Court

Posted on Blog by Elizabeth Bradford El-Rassy · April 15, 2021 8:27 PM

Earlier today, Democrat members of Congress announced the introduction of legislation that would expand the number of members on the U.S. Supreme Court from 9 to 13 justices. Liberals claimed that Republicans were alarmist when they suggested this would happen with Democrat control of Congress and the White House, but here we are. Just last week, President Joe Biden announced the formation of the Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States which many see as a vehicle for making the idea of packing the Supreme Court mainstream.

McCarthy Calls Out Pelosi's Partisan Power Grab

Posted on Blog by Elizabeth Bradford El-Rassy · March 29, 2021 9:28 PM

Earlier today, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy sent a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi calling her out for what the IA-2 election contest really is — yet another Pelosi power grab. The letter reads:

All votes have been counted, and Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks won her election. Not only did Dr. Miller-Meeks not trail in any officially reported count, but she also continued to lead following a recount conducted by bipartisan recount boards, which included a member from each campaign and an agreed upon third party. On November 30, 2020, the bipartisan State Canvassing Board voted unanimously to certify Congresswoman Miller-Meeks as the winner. Then, on January 3, 2021, you seated Congresswoman Miller-Meeks as a Member of Congress with support from every Democratic Member.

H.R. 1 Threatens Americans' Freedom of Speech

Posted on Blog by Elizabeth Bradford El-Rassy · January 29, 2021 5:16 PM

Just like in 2019, Democrats have made sweeping election reforms their top priority for this Congress. One of the most alarming parts of the legislation is its massive restrictions on Americans' freedom of speech. As the Institute for Free Speech's Luke Wachob explained:

Once again, House and Senate Democrats have made it their top legislative priority to limit First Amendment rights, expose Americans to harassment and intimidation for their beliefs, crack down on political speech on the internet, pump millions of tax dollars into politicians’ campaigns, and transform the enforcement of federal campaign finance law into a partisan endeavor. The bill’s cheerleaders, meanwhile, have made it their top priority to lie to the public about the proposal.

Iowa Republicans Urge the U.S. House to Not Take Up the IA-2 Election Contest

Posted on Blog by Elizabeth Bradford El-Rassy · December 17, 2020 11:39 PM

Iowa's congressional delegation has written a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and leadership from the House Committee on Administration urging them not to take up Democrat Rita Hart's election contest in Iowa's 2nd Congressional District. As RNLA previously reported, Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks is the rightful winner of the race, and Hart is looking to take advantage of the Democrat's House majority to circumvent Iowa's procedures and steal the seat.

Dr. Miller-Meeks is the Rightful Winner of IA-2 and Should be Seated by Speaker Pelosi on January 3rd

Posted on Blog by Elizabeth Bradford El-Rassy · December 11, 2020 4:49 PM

Democrat Rita Hart has announced that she will be filing a petition with the House Administration Committee to challenge the results of Iowa's 2nd congressional district race. Why should this alarm Republicans? Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks clearly won the race, not Rita Hart. You read that right... House Democrats are trying to take advantage of their majority to seat the loser of the Iowa-2 congressional race over the rightful winner.

While the Senate Works, the House Ignores the Constitution to Avoid Working

Posted on Blog by Michael Thielen · May 27, 2020 10:50 AM

RNLA Board Members Chuck Cooper and Elliot Berke are leading the legal team representing House Republicans working to stop proxy voting as approved by Democrats in the U.S. House.  As the Wall Street Journal reported:

House Republicans planned to file a lawsuit later Tuesday against Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) to block the chamber’s new system of voting by proxy during the coronavirus pandemic, according to House GOP leadership aides. . . .

No Republicans voted in support of rules changes passed by the House in mid-May that will allow lawmakers to cast votes by proxy during the pandemic, and leaders had signaled a possible lawsuit. . . .

The GOP lawsuit alleges that the new rules are unconstitutional because the Constitution requires a quorum, or a majority, of lawmakers to be physically present to conduct business. The Republicans believe the Constitution’s drafters expected there to be challenges to gathering and still wanted lawmakers to physically be present to conduct business.
