Biden Admin Still Won't Answer Questions Over Elections Executive Order

Posted on Blog by Elizabeth Bradford El-Rassy · May 11, 2022 5:22 PM

It's been over a year since the Biden Administration issued the Executive Order on Promoting Access to Voting, E.O. 14019. However, the Biden Administration has failed to be forthcoming with the public about how it plans to implement the order which requires federal agencies to "consider ways to expand citizens’ opportunities to register to vote and to obtain information about, and participate in, the electoral process." As RNLA previously reported, Committee on House Administration Ranking Member Rodney Davis led other Republican Members of Congress in asking the Biden Administration for more details on how it plans to implement the order:

[T]he above signed members are concerned that Democrats continue to fundamentally misunderstand the role of the federal government in elections, as the EO states, “It is the responsibility of the Federal Government to expand access to, and education about, voter registration and election information, and to combat misinformation, in order to enable all eligible Americans to participate in our democracy.” However, the Constitution gives the States the primary authority to set election law and administer elections.

Democrats and Elias Lost Election Law Cases “7 to 1” in 2020 Before Election Day

Posted on Blog by Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) · February 04, 2022 9:06 PM

If you only read Democracy Docket or follow Marc Elias on Twitter, you might think that the left has never lost an election case ever. However, liberal election law professor Rick Hasen pointed out on Friday that this is simply not true:

The pre-election story is not documented quite as well, but it should be, as the outcomes were instructive. On the left, party committees, Super PACs, advocacy organizations and, to a lesser extent, civil rights groups brought dozens of suits challenging state election laws, regulations, or practices – particularly, though not exclusively, as they related to voting during the pandemic.  Overall, the litigation was unsuccessful, with losses outnumbering even partial wins by a ratio of more than 7:1.

Even the Left is Tired of Marc Elias

Posted on Blog by Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) · February 02, 2022 9:10 PM

In a recent Election Law Blog post, liberal Professor Rick Hasen said what everyone is thinking, but no one wants to admit. Even those on the left are getting tired of Democrat election lawyer Marc Elias (of Steele dossier infamy):

Marc is a controversial figure in the election law world, and he’s become something of an online bully, castigating those who disagree with him even on issues of strategy and tactics who might be natural allies. And once Marc attacks, he has 600,000 Twitter followers who follow suit and believe (thanks in part to some of Marc’s own posts and media appearances) that Marc is singlehandedly fighting against attempts to suppress votes and subvert election outcomes. (In fact, much of this work is done by voting rights lawyers, many without any affiliation with the Democratic Party.) I get lots of messages from election lawyers and professors complaining about Marc but reluctant to voice their criticisms publicly. . .

Dems Will Cast Doubt on Elections Until They Get Their Way

Posted on Blog by Elizabeth Bradford El-Rassy · January 25, 2022 5:15 PM

During a live-streamed interview on Tuesday, Democrat House Leader Steny Hoyer echoed President Joe Biden's position that the 2022 midterm elections could be "illegitimate" if Democrats fail to pass their radical elections bills. Politico reported:

Hoyer said the Democrats' push to pass voting rights legislation is “very much alive,” but he referenced the same strategy that failed Democrats last week. “We either need to change the rules, or get 60 votes [in the Senate],” he said.

Senate Dems are Willing to Mar Legacies with Reckless Vote on Rules Change

Biden’s Divisive Rhetoric Unites People Against Him

Posted on Blog by Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) · January 14, 2022 4:07 PM

President Joe Biden's rhetoric on elections went too far this week.

Biden has continued to wrongly compare Republican-backed state election reforms to the Jim Crow era South, which is ludicrous. But in a speech this week designed to pressure Senators into abolishing the legislative filibuster so that Biden's radical federal takeover of elections could pass, Biden did the unforgivable and compared elected officials who disagree with him to the likes of Bull Connor, George Wallace, and Jefferson Davis. That's right, Biden compared Members of Congress like Tim Scott, Burgess Owens, and Byron Donalds to radical segregationists and the president of the confederacy.

I really don’t think people fully understand yet how much Tuesday’s speech permanently damaged the Biden Presidency. There is no pivoting back after that demagogic display.https://t.co/YeSeaVcJNq pic.twitter.com/nNRf061uUD

Dem Election Shenanigans Will Not Succeed in the Senate

Posted on Blog by Elizabeth Bradford El-Rassy · January 13, 2022 4:19 PM

On Thursday morning, the House passed Democrats' most radical piece of elections legislation yet, the "Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act,” along party lines. This legislation combines the "Freedom to Cheat Act" and H.R. 4 into one bill.

Biden Proposes What He Previously Called "A Very Dangerous Thing"

Posted on Blog by Elizabeth Bradford El-Rassy · January 11, 2022 6:37 PM

Republicans and Democrats spent Tuesday presenting dueling visions for America's elections. Republicans want to make it easier to vote and harder to cheat, while the Democrats, led by President Biden, are willing to do whatever it takes—including changing the Senate filibuster—to achieve a partisan takeover of our elections.

Democrats will do whatever they have to do to get their way—including changing the rules—to fundamentally change U.S. elections.

Anniversary of January 6th Highlights Democrats' Ugly Opportunism

Posted on Blog by Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) · January 06, 2022 6:31 PM

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the January 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol. To be clear, the violence and property destruction that took place that day was unacceptable and should be condemned. Unfortunately, Democrats took today's anniversary as an opportunity to push their radical elections agenda.

Sinema and Manchin Aren't Buying Schumer's Hysterics and Neither are the American People

Posted on Blog by Elizabeth Bradford El-Rassy · January 05, 2022 5:28 PM

On Wednesday, Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer continued his campaign against the filibuster in the name of passing a federal takeover of elections. But Democrat Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema are not buying Chuck Schumer's filibuster hysterics. Manchin expressed his continued hesitancy with making changes to the filibuster to a pool of reporters on Tuesday: "To being open to a rules change that would create a nuclear option, that's very, very difficult. That's a heavy lift… Anytime there's a carveout, you eat the whole turkey."
