Klobuchar AGAIN Tries to Restrict Free Speech

Posted on Blog by Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) · September 28, 2023 7:40 PM

Senator Amy Klobuchar never seems to give up on her efforts to restrict political speech. Even after her failed efforts at enacting regulations for “Honest Ads” and last Congress’ S. 1 effort (nicknamed the “Corrupt Politicians Act”), the Senate Rules Chair is back with a new effort to restrict the speech of non-Democrats. This time, it is the Protect Elections from Deceptive AI Act (S. 2770). As Senator Bill Hagerty pointed out at a Senate Rules hearing earlier this week:

.@SenatorHagerty exposes that @amyklobuchar is trying to regulate AI, even though we don't even have anything close to an agreed on definition of AI.

Posted on Blog by Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) · March 28, 2023 9:44 PM

On Tuesday, hearings were held by the Committee on House Administration and the Senate Rules Committee to discuss the current state of our elections. S.1: A Power Grab in Search of a Crisis

Posted on Blog by Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) · May 11, 2021 6:56 PM

In a marathon hearing today, the Senate Rules Committee held a markup for S.1, the Senate version of the "Corrupt Politicians Act." The hearing covered a variety of topics, but one thing is abundantly clear: the Corrupt Politicians Act is a partisan power grab, and Democrats will do whatever they can to gain as much power as possible. As Senator Hagerty put it, S.1 is a "power grab in search of a crisis." The vote to advance the bill was tied at 9-9, but under Senate rules, the legislation will advance to the floor for consideration.

Senate Rules Holds Hearing on the Corrupt Politicians Act

Posted on Blog by Elizabeth El-Rassy · March 24, 2021 4:41 PM

Earlier today, the Senate Rules Committee held a hearing on the Corrupt Politicians Act. As Senator Cruz pointed out, Democrats have made keeping themselves in power their #1 priority for this Congress despite the myriad of important issues facing the country.

Democrats’ #1 priority is not:

❌ Defeating the #COVID pandemic

❌ Getting people back to work

❌ Helping kids return to the classrooms

It’s keeping themselves in power. pic.twitter.com/oEytF7D1q2

ICYMI: Senate Rules Holds FEC Nomination Hearings

Posted on Blog by Elizabeth El-Rassy · November 24, 2020 7:05 PM

On November 18th, the Senate Rules Committee met to consider the nominations of Shana M. Broussard, Sean J. Cooksey, and Allen Dickerson to the Federal Election Commission. Confirming the nominees is especially important, since the FEC lost a shortly-held quorum earlier this year when Commissioner Caroline Hunter resigned.
