While Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ("DEI") initiatives are often framed as moral or educational imperatives, they must also be reconciled with federal, state, and local civil rights laws. There, universities face a complex web of obligations. In New York, expansive local protections exceed federal law, and institutions must design DEI programs that satisfy both without creating new liabilities. The key question: How far can a university go in advancing DEI without crossing legal lines?

This CLE webinar seeks to help attorneys: navigate the current legal landscape that applies to DEI initiatives at educational institutions; understand the cultural and social factors that influence this legal landscape, including the commitment to eliminating unlawful discrimination; and explain this legal landscape to clients who are or may be affected by these issues.

**Application for New York accreditation of this course for 60 minutes of Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias credit is currently pending.**
