Bob Horn Fund for Law Students

The Bob Horn Fund for Law Students was established during the 2018 National Policy Conference to honor the RNLA’s Founding Chairman. Bob Horn’s mission and lasting legacy is to welcome the next generation of Republican and conservative leaders in our organization and encourage them to be involved in ensuring that elections are open, fair, and honest.

Bob Horn passed away in February 2020. He had a distinguished career of public and private service spanning over four decades. Finishing his career as a partner in the Energy & Natural Resources group at Husch Blackwell LLP, he previously served as a corporate officer for the Detroit Edison Co., Executive Secretary of the Presidential Clemency Board under President Gerald Ford, Special Assistant to the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Director of the State of Michigan’s Washington office, and Special Assistant to Governor William G. Milligan, in addition to many other professional and volunteer positions.

Mr. Horn served on the transition teams of Presidents Reagan, G.W. Bush, and Trump and was Counsel and/or Parliamentarian for the Republican National Convention from 1980 to 2012. During the 2000 election, he helped organize lawyer volunteers around the country in support of President George W. Bush’s presidential campaign and served as a lead attorney in Broward County, Florida, during the recount.
