Experienced transactional attorney with a practice focused primarily on advanced planning for family offices. Representative domestic and international matters include: corporate governance, structuring, taxation, alternative investment opportunities (including real property, private equity and debt, venture capital, and hedge funds), and philanthropic endeavors.
Family Offices
A problem-solver at his core, Nicholas has developed a reputation among his clients as being able to manage most any challenge – often becoming a quarterback of sorts for affluent families with complex legal issues. While himself adept with real estate matters and a thought leader in his practice area, Nicholas’ best skill is often managing outside resources at moments of urgent need.
Real Estate
For 2022-2023, Nicholas served as the chair of both the Real Property Law Committee at the Chicago Bar Association and the Real Estate Law & Practice Section at the DuPage County Bar Association, as well as being a member of the Illinois State Bar Association's Real Estate Section Council. He is also former member of the Forms & Contracts committee at the Chicago Association of REALTORS®.
He is one of eleven attorneys who participated on the committee which drafted the prevailing residential real estate contract in Illinois, the Multi-Board Residential Real Estate Contract 7.0. He is also one of the six (6) executive committee members who are entrusted to manage the form.
Other Bar Involvement
Mr. Tyszka previously sat on the board of directors of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association. A long-time board member for the Catholic Lawyers’ Guild of Chicago, he served as the Guild's 26th president during the 2022-2023 bar year.
