Dear Chairman Grassley and Ranking Member Durbin:

The leaders, members, and friends of the Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) urge the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary to report favorably the nomination of Todd Blanche to be the next Attorney General of the United States and respectfully urge the full Senate to confirm him without unnecessary delay.

The Senate should move promptly to consider and confirm Mr. Blanche, giving the Department of Justice (DOJ) the permanent leadership it needs to carry out its critical missions. He has already spent over a year in DOJ leadership in a Senate-confirmed role, serving as Deputy Attorney General since March 2025 in addition to his current role as Acting Attorney General. The Senate has already evaluated his qualifications for senior DOJ leadership and confirmed him to serve as the Department’s second-ranking official. As such, he is exceptionally well positioned to be confirmed as Attorney General.

One of Mr. Blanche’s first priorities as Deputy Attorney General was to launch “Operation Take Back America,” a nationwide initiative marshaling Department resources to fight violent crime, especially related to illegal immigration, transnational criminal and trafficking organizations, and repeat offenders. Mr. Blanche was also instrumental in the creation of the DOJ’s new National Fraud Enforcement Division which prioritizes the long-overdue need to root out fraud against the American people and protect taxpayer dollars. These are the kinds of concrete, America First law enforcement priorities that should command bipartisan respect.

Mr. Blanche’s experience at the Department of Justice extends far beyond his time serving as Deputy Attorney General and Acting Attorney General. While attending law school, he served as a paralegal for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, to which he later returned after completing two federal judicial clerkships for the Honorable Denny Chin (then-S.D.N.Y.) and the Honorable Joseph Bianco (then-E.D.N.Y.). During his tenure at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mr. Blanche was elevated to the positions of co-chief of the Violent Crimes Unit and co-chief of the White Plains Division.

After departing from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mr. Blanche practiced as a defense attorney at two nationally respected firms before opening Blanche Law to represent President Trump in a number of matters in 2023 and 2024. Those representations unfolded amid extraordinary public scrutiny and intense legal and political pressure. Through it all, Mr. Blanche demonstrated discipline, judgment, and the kind of zealous advocacy that is central to the legal profession and the rule of law, all while achieving favorable outcomes for not just his client, but also the American people.

Mr. Blanche’s record in public service and private practice reflects the integrity and tenacity that DOJ leadership needs. Mr. Blanche has the prosecutorial background, criminal defense experience, management experience, and the President's confidence needed to lead the DOJ as Attorney General.

We respectfully urge the Committee to act promptly on his nomination and to recommend his confirmation to the full Senate.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned Leaders, Members, and Friends of the Republican National Lawyers Association*
