RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel pays tribute to 2020 RNLA Lawyer of the Year Joanne Young

RNLA Chair Manny Iglesias: “Joanne has been a pioneer in breaking the glass ceiling and achieving professional success as a woman in the legal profession. She has selflessly promoted women to positions of eminence in both the legal and professional world. Within the RNLA she has been part of the leadership for the past 25 years. I cannot think of anyone more deserving to receive the RNLA’s most distinguished award.”

Tom Spencer: “So happy to see your well deserved honor. You are a very special person, fantastic lawyer and leader. I hope to be able to be there in person to celebrate.”

Heather Heidelbaugh: “It is my honor to say a few words about Joanne Young and I am so sorry that I could not be there with you tonight. Few lawyers have been more influential in aiding the growth and reputation of the Republican National Lawyers Association than Joanne. She has a unique ability to steer an organization with her keen strategic ideas and unparalleled enthusiasm and work ethic. Joanne Young is most deserving of the Lawyer of the Year award and I join my colleagues in heartily congratulating her.”

Harmeet Dhillon: “Joanne Young is truly an inspiration to other Republican lawyers, including me. From her tireless commitment to the rule of law and nonprofit endeavors in support of election integrity, to her advocacy on behalf of Republican lawyers within the conservative movement, to formation of her own firm in a profession where such entrepreneurship still remains a rarity for women, Joanne has been a trailblazer in so many respects. I look up to her as a colleague and a friend, and I’m so delighted she is being recognized this year with this well-deserved accolade from her peers.”

John Ryder: “Congratulations on being named the 2020 Republican Lawyer of the Year!  We have served together on the board of RNLA, as Delegates to numerous Republican national Conventions, and on behalf of Republican candidates and Presidents.  Along the way, you have been gracious with your presence and generous with your time, serving as a guide and mentor to so many. I know this because you have been a guide and mentor to me. It gives me much pleasure to acknowledge you as Lawyer of the Year, but even more to call you my friend.”

Havey Tettlebaum: “Congratulations to Joanne on this well-deserved award. As a former recipient it is my pleasure to see her so honored. She has worked tirelessly for all the causes in which we believe. She is a superb lawyer and an even better person. I am sorry I cannot be with you this evening, but please accept my best wishes on your recognition.”

Randy Evans: “Congratulations!  I wish I could be there!”

Kimberly Reed: “It is fitting that we gather here on this day to honor Joanne. Today also is Constitution Day and not far from us right now the formal dedication and opening of The Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial is taking place. General Eisenhower said: 'A sense of humor is part of the art of leadership, of getting along with people, of getting things done.' Joanne embodies all of these things. She has a wonderful sense of humor, is a tremendous leader and lawyer, gets along with people and is a devoted friend, and gets things done! Joanne also comes from and has an amazing family. Her grandfather, a West Point graduate, is featured on the cover of Michael Haskew’s West Point 1915 – Eisenhower, Bradley, and the Class the Stars Fell On.  Like her grandfather, Joanne has done so much for so many, including all of us. We are her class and she is our star!”
