RNLA Honors Ashlee Titus as the 2023 Recipient of the Betty Murphy Award

Washington, D.C. – The Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) is pleased to announce Ashlee Titus as the recipient of the 2023 Betty Murphy Award, which will be presented at the National Policy Conference on May 11, in Arlington, Virginia.

The Betty Murphy Award is given each year to an unsung hero, member, trailblazer, with entrepreneurial spirit, a community service leader, an organization builder who inspires others' efforts.

RNLA Board Member and National Republican Congressional Committee Counsel Erin Clark praised the Board’s selection: “Ashlee and I have survived three general elections plus the CA-25 (now CA-27) special election together, and I am confident we wouldn’t have as many Republican Members of Congress from southern California if it weren’t for her running our election integrity program. She always makes herself available, and she always knows the answer off the top of her head; I don’t think she’s given me a single ‘let me look into that and get back to you’ in our five years of working together. Ashlee is one of those rare attorneys in our world who quietly goes about her work and doesn’t relish self-promotion – a true ‘unsung hero’ - and I am absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to share just how amazing she is.”

RNLA Executive Director Michael Thielen added: “Ashlee proves that even in the ‘bluest’ of states, Republican Lawyers can make a difference. Ashlee’s work for election integrity helped us win the U.S. House and has made RNLA’s California Chapter a roaring success.”

Ashlee is a partner at Bell, McAndrews & Hiltachk, LLP of Sacramento, California. She maintains a nationwide practice advising individuals, businesses, candidates, political action committees (PACs), lobbyists, and trade associations on compliance with complex campaign finance and advertising, lobbying, and nonprofit tax exempt statutes and regulations. Ashlee also counsels clients on navigating the process of qualifying initiative, referenda and recall ballot measures at state and local levels and all aspects of such campaigns. Ashlee is a leader organizing efforts to ensure integrity and proper administration of elections in California. Ashlee is a former chair of the Republican National Lawyers Association California Chapter. Ashlee currently serves as secretary to the Lawyers Democracy Fund and is currently president of California Political Attorneys Association.

RNLA is the national organization of Republican attorneys. The mission of RNLA is to advance professionalism; open, fair, and honest elections; career opportunity; and Republican ideals. For more information, please visit: http://www.rnla.org.
