Join RNLA's new Southeast Texas Chapter for an inaugural reception and program on election integrity in the state. This event will feature the chapter's chair, Sonya Aston. As an election integrity expert attorney, Sonya will address the recent 2022 election administration failures in Harris County.

Bio
Sonya is a sixth generation Houston dedicated to providing the best to Harris County. For eight years, she administered elections for Harris County, commanding the 2nd largest election entity in the nation with over 60 permanent employees and 6,000 temporary employees serving over 2.5 million registered voters. While leading elections, Sonya reduced legal missteps at the polls by 30 % every election and implemented programs saving millions of dollars, through training of over 1400 judges and policy development. Every election was, at a minimum, a six week emergency.
Currently, Sonya is the general counsel to Senator Paul Bettencourt and specializes in governmental relations, election integrity, and small businesses. Throughout her career, she worked closely with business leaders, governmental offices, state and federal representatives and senators, political party leaders, political entity leaders and civic leaders to ensure compliance with laws. Sonya also actively works with the Harris County's Office of Emergency Management to disseminate public information to stakeholders and reporters during emergency events.
