The RNLA Wishes Senator John McCain a Speedy Recovery

The RNLA is saddened to learn that Senator John McCain of Arizona, has been diagnosed with a primary glioblastoma, a type of aggressive cancerous brain tumor. Although this is a serious diagnosis, we know that Senator McCain is a fighter who will not take this lightly.

RNLA President Elliot Berke said today:

Senator McCain is a born fighter and we wish him all the best in this fight. Cancer doesn't play favorites, even for an American hero. It doesn't discriminate between parties, class, race, gender, or creed. If anyone can face cancer down, it's John McCain.

Since the announcement on Wednesday night, many on both sides of the aisle took to social media to express support:

President Donald Trump:

Senator John McCain has always been a fighter. Melania and I send our thoughts and prayers to Senator McCain, Cindy, and their entire family. Get well soon.

Vice President Mike Pence:

Cancer picked on the wrong guy. McCain is a fighter & he'll win this fight too. God bless!

Even former President Barack Obama, who Senator John McCain ran against in the 2008 Presidential Election tweeted:

John McCain is an American hero & one of the bravest fighters I've ever known. Cancer doesn't know what it's up against. Give it hell, John.

Our thoughts are prayers with Senator McCain and his family during this difficult time and wish him a speedy recovery so that he may continue to serve in the Senate for the American people.
