BIO

Peter Feldman is Senior Counsel to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. He is responsible for consumer protection, product safety and insurance issues, generally. In particular, he focuses on privacy, technology, data security, motor vehicle safety, and product liability. As counsel to the Committee, Peter oversees activities at the various consumer protection agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission (online privacy, competition policy, consumer protection issues), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (children's products, chemical regulation, chronic hazards, all-terrain vehicles, product testing and certification, and the CPSC consumer database), and NHTSA (highway and vehicle safety, fuel economy and alternative fuels, distracted and impaired driving, and rental cars). Peter also handles issues within the Committee's sports jurisdiction, including the United States Olympic Committee, national sports leagues, the NCAA, state-regulated athletics, youth / amateur sports issues, and drug testing / doping. Peter previously worked in the General Counsel's office at the National Republican Congressional Committee during the 2010 election cycle and served as Regional Communications Director for the McCain presidential campaign in 2008. He also served on the legislative staff of Senator Mike DeWine (R-OH). Peter received his J.D., cum laude, from American University's Washington College of law. He received his B.A., cum laude, from Colgate University.
