The Democrats' latest attempt to undermine the legitimacy of the 2016 election is finally done.  Impeachment is over. 

As White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham stated (emphasis added):  

In what has now become a consistent tradition for Democrats, this was yet another witch-hunt that deprived the President of his due process rights and was based on a series of lies.  Rep. Adam Schiff lied to Congress and the American people with a totally made up statement about the President’s phone call.  Will there be no retribution?  Speaker Nancy Pelosi also lied to the American people about the need to swiftly pass impeachment articles they dreamt up, only to sit on them for a month before sending over to the Senate.  In the Senate, the Democrats continued to make their political motivations clear – Rep. Schiff proclaimed the issues “cannot be decided at the ballot box” – proving once again they think they know better than the voters of this country.  This entire effort by the Democrats was aimed at overturning the results of the 2016 election and interfering with the 2020 election.

Impeachment was never about removing President Trump.  Ranking House Ranking Judiciary Committee Member Doug Collins stated:

As Speaker Pelosi made evident when she claimed President Trump was ‘impeached for life,’ this sham impeachment was never about the Constitution. It was never about an imminent threat. Democrats had one goal and one goal only: Nullifying the last election to win the next one.

However, it may be even worse than just trying to "win" the next one.  Democrats are the party of sore-losers Stacey Abrams and Hillary Clinton.  Impeachment is a set up so that when President Trump wins re-election it will also be called "illegitimate" by Democrats. 

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell explained:

Remember what Chairman Schiff said here on the floor? He suggested that if the American people re-elect President Trump in November, that election will be presumptively invalid as well. That’s Chairman Schiff on this floor, saying if the American people re-elect President Trump this November that election will be presumptively invalid as well.

They still don’t accept the American voters’ last decision, and now they’re preparing to reject the voters’ next decision — if they don’t like the outcome.

Accepting election results has been a cornerstone of our country since the beginning.  Speaker Nancy Pelosi last night ripped up her copy of President Trump’s speech.  Democrats' constant efforts to undermine the legitimacy of elections that they lose is the same as ripping up the Constitution.
