BIO

Michael Thielen has served as the Republican National Lawyers Association’s Executive Director since 2000.  During his time at the RNLA, he has overseen an exponential growth of the RNLA and its mission to become the home for Republican lawyers in the GOP.

Michael is a speaker and organizer on the issues of election administration and judicial confirmation.  On the former, he is a recognized expert on Election Integrity Operations having spoken to numerous nonpartisan and Republican groups on the importance of making it “easier to vote and harder to cheat.”  On the latter, since 2001 he has been a leader in efforts to fight back against liberal and Democrat efforts to block qualified judicial nominees solely on the basis of who nominated them.

Michael worked previously for the Republican National Committee (RNC). After leaving the RNC, he worked for candidates for elected office in Virginia including candidates for Congress, Attorney General, and the Virginia House of Delegates. He has also worked for conservative advocacy organizations such as Judicial Watch and the 60 Plus Association.

Michael has been an Alternate Delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2008 and 2020.  He was appointed a member of the Presidential Rank review board.  He was on the National Board of Lawyers for Trump in 2020.  He has written regularly for the Daily Caller.

Michael graduated from the University of California Los Angeles and Pepperdine School of Law.  He is a proud dad of two young men and a diehard UCLA basketball fan.
