Michael Thielen has served as the Republican National Lawyers Association’s Executive Director since 2000. He graduated from the University of California Los Angeles (B.A. History, 1989) and Pepperdine School of Law (J.D., 1993).
Michael worked previously for the Republican National Committee (RNC) from 1994 through the 1996 election. After leaving the RNC, Michael worked for candidates for elected office in Virginia including candidates for Congress, Attorney General and the Virginia House of Delegates. Michael has also worked for conservative advocacy organizations.
Michael has been an Alternate Delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2008 and 2020. Michael was appointed a member of the Presidential Rank review board. Michael was on the National Board of Lawyers for Trump in 2020. He has written regularly for the Daily Caller. Michael has been a speaker on the issues of election administration and judicial confirmation. On the latter, since 2001 Michael has been participating in efforts regarding judicial confirmation since Democrats began their then unprecedented efforts to block qualified appellate judicial nominees solely on the basis of who nominated them.
Michael is a proud dad of two teenage boys and a diehard UCLA basketball fan.
