By now you've probably heard that South Carolina Senator Tim Scott knocked the Republican response to Joe Biden's first congressional address out of the park. One of the most poignant moments of the Senator's remarks came when he directly called out the left for their racist attacks against him:
“I’ve also experienced a different kind of intolerance. I get called Uncle Tom and the N-word by progressives, by liberals,” Scott said. “Just last week, a national newspaper suggested my family’s poverty was actually privileged because a relative owned land generations before my time.”
Unfortunately, leftists doubled down on their disgusting, racist attacks after the speech.
Corporate America marches to the Left’s “silence is violence” rallying cry, but now that a conservative is attacked? Crickets.— Tim Scott (@SenatorTimScott) April 30, 2021
This isn’t about me.

The Federalist's Jordan Davidson reported:
Leftist online keyboard warriors, however, were less than enthusiastic that a black senator dissented from their claim that all black people and minorities are oppressed by a Republican Party supposedly infected with white supremacy.
The words “Uncle Tim” began trending on Twitter, tying Scott to the pre-Civil War slave character “Uncle Tom” in Harriet Beecher Stowe’s 1850s abolition book “Uncle Tom’s Cabin.” “Uncle Tom” is used as a slur against black people. Yet the racially offensive trend was amplified by Twitter in its trending topics for hours following the speech.
Prominent liberals in the media also got in on the attacks against Scott:
dude just apologized for wearing blackface, now joining in on the attacks on a black SC senator as a race-traitor, and folks if that doesn't sum up the American discourse on race nothing does https://t.co/QnZZIuhh6K— Seth Mandel (@SethAMandel) April 30, 2021
Coming from a woman that proudly wore blackface as an adult, she is clearly an expert on what it means to be racist. https://t.co/BBFS25DZDc— PARIS (@PARISDENNARD) April 30, 2021
Unsurprisingly, most news outlets ignored the painfully obvious displays of racism:
Yet the primetime shows on liberal cable outlets CNN and MSNBC ignored the attacks Thursday, as did "CBS Evening News" and ABC's "World News Tonight." CNN and MSNBC's websites also both skipped the racially charged story, as did the New York Times. The network's morning shows also skipped the story Friday morning, according to a transcript search.
Sadly, the way the left treats Black conservatives has become a pattern. Everyone from Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to Senator Scott's fellow members of Congress like Burgess Owens have been subjected to derogatory treatment when they didn't fall in line with the left's narrative on pretty much anything.
