RNLA Letter to the Senate from Members and Friends in Support of William Barr's Confirmation

Today, the RNLA sent a letter to Senate leaders in support of confirming the Honorable William Barr as Attorney General of the United States.  The letter was signed by 115 RNLA leaders, members, and friends:

As members and friends of the Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA), we urge you to promptly confirm the Honorable William Barr as the next Attorney General of the United States.

Mr. Barr has experience that has prepared him well to assume the responsibilities of Attorney General, including the highest qualification: having previously and honorably served as Attorney General of the United States. Unlike many attorneys general who leave office under a cloud of controversy or partisan criticism, Attorney General Barr was praised for his leadership of the Department of Justice under President George H.W. Bush, and history has shown his service as Attorney General was an example of integrity, wisdom, and legal acumen to be emulated by future attorneys general.

Prior to being confirmed as the 77th Attorney General, by a simple voice vote, Mr. Barr served as Deputy Attorney General and Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice. He was confirmed to all three positions with broad, bipartisan support, and he should receive similar bipartisan support now.

Since his public service, he has had a distinguished career in the private practice of law. Throughout his long career, he has demonstrated the character, legal skills, and respect for the rule of law necessary to be attorney general.

The RNLA is the home of Republican lawyers in the Republican Party. Prior to his most recent nomination, Mr. Barr served on the RNLA’s Board of Visitors. We are steadfast in our belief that Mr. Barr will once again be an exemplary Attorney General.

Thank you for your careful consideration of Mr. Barr, his experience, and his excellent qualifications to be the 85th Attorney General of the United States. We encourage the Senate to promptly confirm William Barr as Attorney General.
