The Corrupt Politicians Act is All About Power for Democrats

Democrats will lead people to believe that the Corrupt Politicians Act is about voting rights. But as NRSC Communications Director Chris Hartline points out, the Corrupt Politicians Act is all about "ensuring that Democrats win more elections."

Democrats have as admitted as much — most recently by Senator Jeff Merkley. As reported by The Hill:

Senate Democrats are warning that if they fail to pass the For the People Act, they’ll face political consequences next year in the larger battle for the Senate.

“Our grassroots is going to be so discouraged if we fail to get this passed. ... There will be this sense of burnout. So we are going to lose massively in the next election if we don’t get this passed,” Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), who is spearheading the bill, said during an organizing meeting with progressive groups.

“We’ll lose massively because we’re burned out by failure to deliver and we’ll lose massively because of new voting restrictions,” he added.

House Democratic Whip James Clyburn made similar comments in March when he criticized Democrat Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema for their position on the legislative filibuster (they oppose getting rid of it):

“If Manchin and Sinema enjoy being in the majority, they had better figure out a way to get around the filibuster when it comes to voting and civil rights.”

Democrats' efforts on H.R.1/S.1 are really about Democrats winning elections and are not about voters at all. You can stay up to date with the latest on the Corrupt Politicians Act on RNLA's website.
