Senator Michael Gibbons joined the St. Louis area office of Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP in December 2005. A veteran attorney with more than 20 years of experience, he focuses his practice on general business. Prior to joining the firm, Mike practiced with the Gibbons Law Firm in Kirkwood, Mo. There he focused his practice on trial work, collections, and estate planning and probate. In addition to practicing law, Mike serves as President Pro Tem of the Missouri Senate. Senator Gibbons was elected to his second term in the Missouri Senate in 2004. He was first elected to the Senate in 2000, after serving eight years as a state representative. He served as Chairman of the Senate Ways and Means Committee his first two years, then as Majority Floor Leader for two years, before being elected twice by his colleagues as President Pro Tem, the Senate's top position. Mike began his career in public service when he was elected to the Kirkwood (Misssouri) City Council in 1986. He is the Republican candidate for Missouri Attorney General in the November 2008 general election.
