Today, U.S. Attorney for Delaware David Weiss was appointed Special Counsel by Attorney General Merrick Garland. As House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan points out:
First, David Weiss said he didn’t have the power he needed and wanted special counsel status.— Rep. Jim Jordan (@Jim_Jordan) August 11, 2023
Then, he said he had all the power he needs.
Now, he gets special counsel status because he didn’t really have the power he needs?
Something’s not right.
House Ways and Means Chair Jason Smith gives a very plausible answer to Chairman Jordan’s question:
🧵Announcement of a special counsel only happened because congressional GOP exposed the two-tiered judicial system by shining light onto the investigation into Hunter Biden’s alleged financial crimes & the political interference that shielded both him & POTUS from scrutiny.— Rep. Jason Smith (@RepJasonSmith) August 11, 2023
On Fox Business, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer overviewed the voluminous evidence against Hunter and President Joe Biden that has been brought to light.

Thank you Speaker McCarthy and House leaders for what you have exposed so far and for keeping up the fight. You are winning and, more importantly, the truth is finally coming out.
This action by Biden’s DOJ cannot be used to obstruct congressional investigations or whitewash the Biden family corruption.— Kevin McCarthy (@SpeakerMcCarthy) August 11, 2023
If Weiss negotiated the sweetheart deal that couldn’t get approved, how can he be trusted as a Special Counsel?
House Republicans will continue to pursue…
