Biden Proposes What He Previously Called "A Very Dangerous Thing"

Republicans and Democrats spent Tuesday presenting dueling visions for America's elections. Republicans want to make it easier to vote and harder to cheat, while the Democrats, led by President Biden, are willing to do whatever it takes—including changing the Senate filibuster—to achieve a partisan takeover of our elections.

Both Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden addressed the nation with divisive speeches urging the Senate to pass radical Democrat-backed election bills. Most prominent were their continued misrepresentations of GOP-backed election reforms at the state level and their hypocrisy on the filibuster.

A recent report from the RNC catalogues both Vice President Harris' and President Biden's past support of the filibuster:

• For decades, Biden said eliminating the filibuster would have drastic consequences: o In 2020, Biden said he did not support “abolishing the legislative filibuster” because “it raises problems that are more damaging than the problem that exists.”

o In 2019, Biden called ending the filibuster a “very dangerous thing to do.”

o In 2005, Biden praised the “chance to filibuster,” called the “nuclear option” to weaken the filibuster an “arrogance of power,” and said eliminating the filibuster “would undermine the protections of a minority point of view” and have “long term consequences.”

• Kamala Harris also defended the filibuster:

o In 2019, then-Senator Kamala Harris said she had a “practical concern” if the filibuster were not in place. For decades, Biden said eliminating the filibuster would have drastic consequences:

Biden and Harris talk a big game, but they simply do not have the votes to pass the elections legislation or abolish the filibuster.

Senate Republicans should be applauded for their united opposition against the Biden Administration's radical elections agenda and plan to abolish the filibuster.
