On Thursday, Judge Amy Coney Barrett's nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court was reported favorably by the Senate Judiciary Committee. Her nomination will be debated by the full Senate as early as Friday. The Committee also reported several other federal judicial nominations favorably and voted to approve subpoenas for Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to testify before the committee regarding their content moderation policies.

2020 has led to many differences among the American people, but a majority of Americans agree on 2 things: Senators should confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court and say "no" to court packing. The percentage of Americans who support Judge Barrett's confirmation has increased by nearly 15% since President Trump announced her nomination to the Court.

Today officially marks two weeks until Election Day. Despite the close proximity to the election, there is still active litigation taking place across the country with the potential to greatly affect the landscape on Election Day and the days that follow.

As Election Day approaches, the serious election administration problems associated with the rapid increase of voting by-mail continue. These issues have been predicted by election experts on the right and left for many months, including the Lawyers Democracy Fund, but liberal pundits have continued to push voting by mail as the only way to vote this fall:

The COVID-19 public health crisis has led to a dramatic increase in the demand for mail voting.  While Lawyers Democracy Fund (LDF) asserts that the best and most secure way to cast a ballot is in person at a polling location, LDF understands the necessity for certain voters to have the option to vote by mail.  However, when states and jurisdictions attempt to increase the volume of mail voting without proper election infrastructure or without maintaining important election integrity safeguards, LDF sees no greater threat to safe, honest, and secure elections. . . .

Voting in person at a polling location decreases the chances of a ballot getting thrown out for simple errors.  Nationwide, hundreds of thousands of mail ballots were rejected in 2018 because of mail delays, minor technical defects, and voter errors – issues that do not occur with in-person voting.  Mail ballots are three times as likely to be rejected for various reasons than ballots cast in person, making voting in person a far more effective method of voting to ensure one’s vote actually counts.

On Wednesday, the New York Post published an article about emails obtained from a laptop abandoned by Hunter Biden at a repair shop that confirm some of the accusations regarding impropriety in Hunter Biden's position on the board of Burisma and former Vice President Biden's involvement. This might have been a story that only made an impression with the devoted MAGA crowd, except that Twitter decided it violated a policy against "hacked materials," blocked users from tweeting the article, and suspended accounts that had posted it, including the accounts of White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, the Trump campaign's account (@TeamTrump), and the New York Post itself. This policy was not applied to the New York Times story from a few weeks ago that published information from President Trump's tax returns that had been obtained not just through irregular channels but illegally. Facebook quickly followed suit to suppress the story, and the mainstream media completely ignored that the story had been published.

The final day of Supreme Court confirmation hearings for Judge Amy Coney Barrett showed what we already knew: Senate Democrats incorrectly believe that the courts should make policy decisions.

After 3 long days of hearings, Judge Amy Coney Barrett has emerged as one of the most brilliant Supreme Court nominees in recent history. Former Judiciary Committee Counsel Greg Nunziata and current TV Commentator argued:

I'd say Roberts, Kagan, and Barrett are the top three (coincidentally, one for each POTUS), but not sure in what order.

Democrats continued their healthcare forum during today's confirmation hearing for Judge Amy Coney Barrett.  This came despite:

Judge Barrett correctly says that Obamacare case currently before the Supreme Court turns on the issue of severability, which was not an issue in the previous ACA cases. Someone should tell the Democrats.
